It has been a very interesting journey to get to this point in my life and career. I grew up in a very small community just outside Chicago. Grew up in an Italian/Irish family with four sisters and my Mother and Father, all in a 900 Sq Ft home with one bathroom. Great moral code and work ethic. It was an amazing upbringing!
Pretty standard story from there but necessary to understand why I am who I am. Paper route at 12 going door to door including collecting every week. Parochial grade school and public high school. Wrestling was the main sport, you have a group of teammates and yet very much self reliant! Work permit at 15, worked nights at a local grocer.
Associate degree from Community College, finished Law Enforcement administration degree at state college(Western Illinois University). Worked and paid for all of college.
Chicago Police academy and then a police officer for 5 years. Awesome experience, hands on learning people skills while dealing with people at their most difficult times, great learnings, maturing and growth.
Getting ready to marry, left the Police Department and became a commissioned sales person in the Foodservice distribution industry. Found good success, then promoted to District Sales Manager, Vp Sales and at 36 President of my first Distribution center. In the meantime, married, two amazing children and a passion for Leadership.
That’s when I started to study Leadership and look for strong mentors and successful professionals to learn from. I found several and was very fortunate to learn from them. At the beginning, my first President positions were into challenged companies that needed to be turned around. That’s when it became so apparent that the entire focus needed to be on the people!
In my 40 year career, I have managed businesses that are as large as 4 billion dollars in annual volume and hundreds of millions in profits. These companies have hundreds of associates who’s families were relying on our Teams making the right decisions and producing the best results. I take that very personally.
I am known as a very direct, strong, high A personality with the unique skill of reducing the complicated to the simple. Further I have a unblemished record of producing results at or above what was expected under all types of circumstances. I am expert at recruiting, motivating, training and successfully producing large sales and high profits!
In my role, I lead a very large Team, mentor associates from every area of our company, drive training, coaching and associate development. All the while, spending time with my 4 1/2 amazing Grandchildren, two spectacular grown children, friends on the golf course or at the lake and coaching Leaders to become their absolute best.
I have been a lifelong learner and have invested heavily in masterminds, and have learned from the best coaches in the industry.
